What changes when you convert HEIF to BMP?
BMP stores pixels without another lossy compression step. It cannot restore detail that was already removed from the original HEIF file.
- BMP cannot store transparency. Transparent areas are flattened into an opaque background during conversion.
- Add multiple images and process them together with the selected output format.
- Open the finished BMP file and check fine details, layout and compatibility in the app where you plan to use it.
Source formatWhat is a HEIF file?
HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) is a flexible container for compressed images, image sequences and related data. It can store photos efficiently and support features such as transparency, but compatibility varies by codec, app and operating system.
How to open a HEIF file
HEIF opens on modern iPhones, iPads and recent Windows/macOS (with the HEIF extension); for older apps or the web, convert it to JPG or PNG.
Output formatWhat is a BMP file?
BMP (Bitmap) is a raster image format associated with Windows. BMP files are often uncompressed, so they retain their stored pixel data but can be much larger than formats designed for the web.
How to open a BMP file
BMP opens in common desktop image viewers and editors. Browser support is less consistent, so JPG or PNG is usually more practical for the web.
